While my husband and I were serving as missionaries in Romania, I became pregnant with our first child. I was thrilled but also full of questions about how to be pregnant and possibly give birth in a foreign country. I wanted to find other moms like me who had been there and could give me helpful advice. But as I searched around online, I didn’t find anything that was directed specifically to missionary moms. Sure, there are lots of mommy-sites and groups, but none that cater directly to those women who don’t have the typical ‘mommy’ lifestyle. I began to have a heart and burden for these women who are daily wearing many hats- not just those of the mom-and-wife-life, but for those who do that and also daily take up their cross and bring the gospel to the lost.
My desire for this site is to allow other missionary moms to connect and get real-life advice from topics ranging from parenting to marriage to missions. The purpose of missionarymoms.org is to have a resource available that transcends age, denomination, or location. Because let’s face it: when you’re actually on the field, you’re not thinking about being A/G or Baptist, 20 years old or 50 years old. You’re living real life and you have real needs and real questions. We don’t claim to be the authority on any given subject- we just want to offer advice and guidance through our own personal experiences, and ultimately, the Word of God.
